Hi, I’m Julie.
I’m a Mental Health Social Worker and the founder of Touchstone Counselling and Supervision. I’ve spent the past 30 years helping people navigate trauma, rebuild trust in their relationships, and find a way forward through complex mental health challenges. This work is my passion.
At Touchstone, I offer individual and couples counselling, drawing on a wide base of evidence-based approaches including EMDR, somatic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and attachment-based interventions.
I specialise in working with people who’ve experienced trauma—whether recent or long past—and with those living with dissociation, chronic anxiety, depression, or the slow wear-and-tear of burnout and grief.
Sometimes, people come to therapy needing immediate tools. A strategy to get through a job interview. A way to stay calm during a hard conversation. A technique to quiet their nervous system when they’re overwhelmed. I provide practical, psychological strategies that work—skills that help people shift out of shutdown, manage anxiety, reduce trauma symptoms, and feel more in control. It’s not either/or. Others come with long term patterns of behaving, thinking and relating that they know they need to change. These people need to go deeper and this is where EMDR, IFS and somatic work can be very helpful.
I’m a registered provider under the National Redress Scheme, Open Arms, DVA, Victims of Crime, and WorkCover Queensland. I accept GP Mental Health Plans and support NDIS participants with complex mental health needs, offering capacity-building therapeutic supports tailored to the realities of living with trauma and mental health diagnoses.
Helping people move toward recovery is what I do best. Whether that’s through long-term healing or short-term strategies and support, I’m here to walk alongside you.
